Manager, Outcomes for Māori

About the role

This senior leadership position within Ātea a Rangi – Strategy at the Ministry of Justice will shape better justice outcomes for Māori across Aotearoa. Reporting to the General Manager, Te Tirohanga Māori, you will lead a multidisciplinary team and work closely with iwi, hapū, the judiciary and senior ministry leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team delivering strategic advice and insights for Māori outcomes.
• Build trusted partnerships with iwi, hapū and justice sector stakeholders.
• Design and oversee initiatives that address systemic disproportionality.
• Embed Te Tiriti principles, tikanga and mātauranga Māori across all work.
• Provide leadership across strategy, performance and organisational priorities.

Required profile

• Deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori.
• Proven experience leading complex, multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience building influential relationships across government and Māori partners.
• Track record delivering strategic programmes, policy, service design or system change.
• Ability to provide clear, evidence‑based advice to senior leaders and stakeholders.
