Maître d’ – Front of House Leader

About the role

As the Maître d’ at Peppers Bluewater Resort you will be the face of the restaurant, ensuring front‑of‑house operations run smoothly and guests receive a warm, memorable experience from arrival to departure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the front‑of‑house team to deliver a welcoming atmosphere and assist guests throughout their visit.
• Train, mentor and schedule Food & Beverage attendants to maintain high service standards.
• Handle dining reservations for internal and external guests.
• Operate the POS cashiering system, manage cash flow and ensure a balanced till.
• Resolve challenges with a positive, solution‑focused approach.
• Develop and deliver on‑ and off‑the‑job training programmes.
• Monitor staffing, payroll, cost control and profit optimisation.
• Track stock levels, conduct stocktakes with the restaurant manager and place timely orders.
• Uphold a professional appearance through meticulous personal grooming.

Required profile

• Proven customer‑service experience in the hospitality sector.
• Strong knowledge of food & beverage protocols, including table service, beverage service and coffee preparation.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Valid RSA (or equivalent) certification.
• Enthusiasm for engaging with guests and collaborating with a diverse team.
