Maintenance Technician – Parcel Sorting Machinery

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Christchurch depot and keep our automated parcel and letter sorting machinery running at peak performance. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, solving problems quickly and ensuring the equipment meets operational demands.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fault finding and repair on mechanical, electrical and control systems of sorting machines.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance and planned servicing.
• Document maintenance activities and report any recurring issues.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to implement improvements and upgrades.
• Adhere to health and safety standards while working on equipment.

Required profile

• 2+ years experience as an electrical or mechanical technician/engineer.
• Either a New Zealand Electrical Registration or Electrical Service Technician Registration (papers A & B) OR a Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• Ability to stay calm and logical under pressure and resolve breakdowns efficiently.
• Positive, flexible attitude and willingness to work a 4‑week rotational roster covering day, afternoon, night and weekend shifts.
