Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Christchurch depot, supporting automated parcel and letter sorting machinery. The role involves both reactive fault fixing and planned preventive maintenance, ensuring equipment operates efficiently for our logistics operations.

Key responsibilities

• Service and maintain parcel and letter sorting machinery, ensuring operational readiness.
• Diagnose and repair faults as they arise, performing corrective actions promptly.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and inspections.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to improve equipment reliability.
• Work a 4‑week rotational roster covering day, afternoon, night and weekend shifts.

Required profile

• 2+ years experience as an electrical or mechanical technician, maintenance engineer or service electrician.
• Positive, flexible attitude with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Either a New Zealand Electrical Registration (papers A & B) or a Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• Willingness to work a rotating roster and adapt to shift patterns.

Required skills

• Fault finding and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Electrical maintenance, including wiring and component replacement.
• Mechanical maintenance of high‑speed sorting equipment.
• Basic control system or PLC programming (desirable).
