Maintenance Mechanical Technician (Kupe Plant)

About the role

Beach Energy is looking for a hands‑on Maintenance Mechanical Technician to support safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Kupe Natural Gas Processing Plant near Hāwera, New Zealand. The role includes regular visits to the offshore wellhead platform and occasional travel from New Plymouth with transportation provided.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planned and breakdown maintenance on plant and rotating equipment.
• Perform fault finding, troubleshooting and repairs to meet reliability targets.
• Support inspections, compliance activities and plant shutdowns.
• Update maintenance systems and contribute to preventative maintenance plans.
• Supervise contractors on site when required.
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Participate in an on‑call roster.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline (Fitter & Turner preferred).
• New Zealand citizen or permanent resident with a current NZ driver’s licence.
• Experience in a similar oil & gas or industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, documentation and procedures.
• Experience with rotating equipment maintenance is beneficial.
• Familiarity with CMMS (SAP advantageous) and certifications such as BOSIET or Common PTW are welcome.
