Maintenance Fitter

About the role

Silver Fern Farms is seeking motivated Maintenance Fitters to join the engineering team at its Takapau lamb processing site. You will help keep production running smoothly in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment, working on day and evening shifts with occasional weekend overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Install, align and maintain mechanical equipment such as conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, valves and pipework.
• Assemble and fit machine components, including motors and sub‑assemblies, following engineering drawings and specifications.
• Perform mechanical adjustments, checks and verification of assets to ensure optimal performance.
• Work safely under permit‑to‑work procedures and adhere to site safety requirements.
• Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent) – trade qualification is non‑negotiable.
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in mechanical fitting, installation or maintenance.
• Reliable, adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience in FMCG or a comparable production engineering environment is an advantage.
