Maintenance Fitter

About the role

The Maintenance Fitter will ensure that Laminex New Zealand’s plant and equipment operate safely and efficiently. Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Manufacturing, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, breakdown response, and supporting the long‑term reliability of the new production facility.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical maintenance on production line equipment such as presses, conveyors, motors, gearboxes and related components.
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance and scheduled corrective actions, meeting work‑order priorities and timelines.
• Identify and proactively resolve maintenance issues that affect plant performance.
• Support capital projects and commissioning activities as required.
• Collaborate within a safety‑first, team‑oriented environment.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified Maintenance Fitter.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in general engineering/maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding ability and a proactive, preventative‑maintenance mindset.
• Ability to work autonomously and support team members when needed.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with plant stakeholders.
