Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical/Electrical/Multi‑Skilled

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Engineer (mechanical, electrical or multi‑skilled) to join a small team at a large international manufacturing facility in North East England. The role involves rotating shifts, offering exposure to planned maintenance, breakdown response, equipment upgrades and new installations.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and restore production.
• Deliver equipment upgrades, new installations and infrastructure changes.
• Perform building maintenance tasks as required.
• Collaborate with a team of eight engineers across three daily shifts.

Required profile

• Completed recognised engineering apprenticeship or NVQ/C&G Level 3 qualification in mechanical, electrical or multi‑skilled engineering.
• Experience in maintenance or service work within an industrial, FMCG, facilities or similar manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a small, shift‑based team and willingness to develop new skills.

Required skills

• Maintenance and troubleshooting of motors, belts, bearings, chains, gears, boilers and pumps.
• Knowledge of inverters, sensors, relays, contactors and 3‑phase motor systems.
• Experience with PLC programming and control.
• Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
