About the role
The University of Otago Property Services is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer with boiler experience to maintain and optimise boiler, steam and heating systems across its campus. You will ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation of plant equipment while providing professional advice to internal clients.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain, repair and optimise boiler, steam and heating plant.
- Provide technical advice on mechanical engineering matters to clients.
- Supervise Mechanical Engineering trainees and promote cross‑trade communication.
- Ensure all work complies with university quality standards and relevant pressure‑vessel and boiler safety regulations.
- Assist with code of compliance issues and building warrant of fitness items.
- Coordinate with Facility Managers on installation and maintenance of services.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Participate in on‑call roster for after‑hours or emergency work.
Required profile
- Qualified Mechanical Engineer with practical experience in boiler, steam and heating systems.
- Flexible, adaptable and collaborative with strong client‑focused service ethic.
- Result‑oriented critical thinker and problem solver.
