Maintenance Electrician

About the role

Silver Fern Farms Hāwera is seeking a motivated Maintenance Electrician to join its engineering team. The role involves hands‑on electrical reliability improvements, repairs and maintenance on a large industrial food‑processing site. You will work on a rotating two‑week roster covering day and night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and corrective electrical maintenance on plant equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Participate in projects and installation of new site equipment.
• Maintain compliance with safety and electrical standards.
• Document work and communicate findings to the engineering team.

Required profile

• Previous experience in FMCG or similar production environment (advantageous).
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a tight‑knit maintenance team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and proactive attitude.
• Organised with ability to plan and prioritise workload.

Required skills

• Relevant electrical trades qualification.
• Full NZ EWRB Electrical registration.
• Knowledge of electrical principles and maintenance procedures in an industrial setting.
• Exposure to PLCs and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
• Ability to analyse problems and implement effective solutions.
