Maintenance Contract Manager – Hawke’s Bay

About the role

You will lead the Integrated Delivery Contract for the Hawke’s Bay region, overseeing contract administration, compliance and programme delivery for critical state highway infrastructure. This senior position offers autonomy to drive contractor performance, ensure safety and resilience, and deliver value‑for‑money outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Integrated Delivery Contract (IDC) for Hawke’s Bay, ensuring compliance with NZS3917/3910 standards.
• Monitor and improve contractor performance, implementing improvement plans where needed.
• Oversee a budget of up to $40 million, including financial forecasting and value assessment.
• Coordinate emergency response and technical oversight of maintenance activities.
• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the transport network.
• Ensure health and safety compliance throughout contract delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing complex infrastructure maintenance contracts (NZS3917/3910 preferred).
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
• Deep understanding of asset management, maintenance practices and health & safety.
• Financial management expertise, including forecasting and value assessment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Tertiary qualification in engineering, quantity surveying, infrastructure management, project management or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Current, valid NZ driver’s licence.
