Locum Training Appointment (ST3+) – Specialist Rehabilitation Service

About the role

This locum appointment provides a training opportunity for doctors at ST3 level or above within the Specialist Rehabilitation Service based at Woodend Hospital, Aberdeen. The role combines inpatient care, outpatient clinics and community rehabilitation work, offering a diverse clinical experience in a multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality medical care across the Neurological, Orthopaedic, Stroke and LINKS rehabilitation units.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care plans.
• Provide input for major trauma patients admitted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
• Attend outpatient clinics and collaborate with community rehabilitation services, including the Horizons Rehabilitation Centre.
• Support the training and supervision of junior staff and medical students.

Required profile

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC) prior to start date.
• Eligibility for ST3 or higher level training posts.
• Commitment to the educational standards approved by the Postgraduate Dean.
• Willingness to work 40 hours per week on‑site at Woodend Hospital.

Required skills

• Clinical competence in rehabilitation medicine.
• Ability to manage complex multi‑disciplinary cases.
