Line Mechanic – Distribution Network

About the role

This permanent full‑time position is with NPE‑Tech, an accredited electrical contracting company operating in New Plymouth. The role offers growth opportunities for an experienced line mechanic who is comfortable working at heights and delivering quality, safety‑focused service.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out electrical repairs, maintenance, upgrades and alterations at customer premises and Powerco sites.
• Diagnose faults, replace poles, cross‑arms and underground assets, and install reticulation, cables, transformers and switchgear.
• Perform electrical testing, document results and follow network standards and safety regulations.
• Assist in training apprentices/trainees and communicate proactively about issues affecting task completion or safety.

Required profile

• Valid full driver’s licence (heavy truck preferred) and a recognised electrical qualification.
• Minimum five years’ experience on a distribution network.
• Ability to read plans, schematics and construction standards.
• Right to work in New Zealand or be document‑ready for international candidates.
