Library Engagement Assistant – Pacific

About the role

The University of Otago Library is seeking a Pacific Library Engagement Assistant to support Pacific students throughout their academic journey. This student‑centric position blends service excellence with cultural advocacy, helping students navigate library resources and spaces while promoting inclusive learning experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality service to Pacific students, guiding them in the use of library tools, collections and study areas.
• Collaborate with the Pacific Engagement Advisor and university stakeholders to design and deliver culturally relevant workshops, events and learning initiatives.
• Promote library services across campus networks using targeted communication and marketing strategies that resonate with Pacific communities.
• Assist in developing and maintaining welcoming, culturally safe spaces within the library.
• Stay current with library technologies and adapt to new systems as required.
