About the role

The Public Defence Service (PDS) is seeking an entry‑level Legal Support Assistant to join its busy Wellington team. You will work closely with legal secretaries and the wider support services team, gaining exposure to criminal law processes.

Key responsibilities

Assist legal secretaries and provide general office support.
Set up client files and collate legal documents.
Process client disclosures and manage related paperwork.
Cover reception duties and handle routine administrative tasks.

Required profile

Strong attention to detail.
Ability to follow instructions and see tasks through.
Comfort working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Proactive, initiative‑taking attitude.
Some experience in a customer‑focused professional environment and general office administration.
