About the role

The Public Defence Service (PDS) is seeking an entry‑level Legal Support Assistant to join its busy Manukau office. This permanent position offers a supportive team environment where you can start a career in criminal law support.

Key responsibilities

Assist legal secretaries and provide general office support.
Set up client files and collate legal documents.
Process client disclosures and manage related paperwork.
Cover reception duties and handle a variety of administrative tasks.

Required profile

Strong attention to detail.
Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
Experience prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.
Proactive, initiative‑driven attitude.
Some prior experience in a customer‑focused professional environment is advantageous.
