Legal Compliance Manager

About the role

The Legal Compliance Manager will lead NZ Post Group’s second‑line legal compliance framework across a complex, multi‑entity environment. Reporting to senior leadership and with visibility to Board committees, this role shapes enterprise‑wide compliance, provides actionable risk insights, and ensures legal obligations are embedded throughout the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Build, evolve and continuously improve the legal compliance programme and associated policies.
• Monitor, interpret and apply relevant legal requirements to NZ Post’s diverse activities.
• Embed compliance practices across business units and support first‑line owners in understanding their obligations.
• Deliver training, guidance and advisory support to enhance legal compliance awareness.
• Provide independent second‑line oversight of compliance risk management, including risk identification, assessment and documentation.
• Support and coordinate compliance reviews, audits and investigations as required.
• Prepare clear, practical reports and insights for senior leadership, the Board Risk Committee and other governance bodies.
• Collaborate with Group Risk, Legal & Regulatory, and Company Secretariat teams to ensure coordinated assurance.

Required profile

• Senior legal compliance professional with extensive experience in a multi‑entity, regulated environment.
• Pragmatic, commercially‑minded approach that balances risk and business needs.
• Strong communication and advisory skills, capable of influencing senior leaders.
• Proven ability to develop and embed compliance frameworks and policies.
