Legal Assistant – Litigation Support (Napier/Hastings)

About the role

This permanent position provides trusted, long‑term legal support to the Dispute Resolution and Litigation Partner. You will be the first point of contact for clients navigating emotionally challenging disputes, delivering empathetic and professional service.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the initial client contact, handling enquiries with empathy and appropriate boundaries.
• Prepare legal documents and manage case files to a high standard.
• Support the Litigation Partner with confidence, sound judgement, and ownership of tasks.

Required profile

• Recent experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary or Legal Executive in a New Zealand law firm.
• Background in dispute resolution and litigation, or strong transferable legal support skills.
• Experience with relationship property, estate or trust matters is an advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational and communication abilities.
• Calm, professional approach to client interactions with empathy.
• Genuine interest in building a long‑term career in legal support.

Required skills

• Proficiency with OneLaw document management system (advantageous).
