Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sport Leadership & Management

About the role

The School of Sport, Exercise & Health at Auckland University of Technology is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to lead teaching and research in sport leadership and sport management. The role is permanent, full-time (1.0 FTE) and based primarily at the Akoranga Campus, with responsibilities across AUT’s other campuses as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision in sport leadership, sport development and sport management.
• Develop and lead curriculum and course design, ensuring alignment with industry and community needs.
• Maintain an active research programme, publishing in reputable journals and securing collaborative projects.
• Contribute to the School’s strategic initiatives, including partnerships with Māori, Pacific and industry stakeholders.
• Participate in departmental service, committees and student mentorship.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent qualification in sport leadership, sport management or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in university-level teaching and supervision.
• Strong record of scholarly publications and ability to attract research funding.
• Commitment to the inclusion of Māori and Pacific perspectives in teaching and research.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
