About the role
The University of Otago is seeking an outstanding academic to join its emerging Queenstown campus as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Data Science and AI Governance and Leadership. This full‑time, permanent position will involve teaching at postgraduate level, developing curricula, and building an active research programme.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver postgraduate teaching in data science, AI governance and related subjects.
- Develop and continuously improve curricula and course materials.
- Establish and lead a research agenda in data science and AI governance.
- Engage with industry, government and community organisations in the region.
- Contribute to university service and academic governance.
Required profile
- A completed PhD in data science, artificial intelligence, computer science, information systems, law, public policy or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated research record (established or emerging) in data science and AI governance.
- Experience in postgraduate teaching and curriculum development is desirable.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across disciplines, industry and community.
