Lecturer – Teaching & Administration in Sport & Health

About the role

The Faculty of Health at the University of Canterbury is seeking a Lecturer (Teaching & Administration) to lead and develop Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements and deliver undergraduate teaching in Sport, Health and Physical Education.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and manage WIL school and organisational placements for students.
• Engage with external schools, community organisations and industry partners to secure and maintain placement opportunities.
• Teach undergraduate courses in sport, health and physical education, focusing on pedagogy, curriculum and professional practice.
• Provide mentoring, advising and pastoral care to support student wellbeing and academic success.
• Collaborate across programmes to strengthen links between sport and education sectors.
• Uphold inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
• Participate in professional development, scholarship and service activities that enhance programme quality.

Required profile

• Completed degree in sport or a closely related field.
• Experience in teaching, curriculum development and managing placement programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusive practice.

What we offer

• 2‑year fixed‑term contract (37.5 hours per week).
• Salary band 1.01–4.04: NZ$70,258 – $123,687 per year.
• 4 weeks annual leave plus 5 university holidays.
• Employer superannuation contribution up to 6.75%.
