Lecturer – Strategic Communication (Part‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

The University of Canterbury is seeking a part‑time Lecturer (Teaching and Administration) to join the Media and Communication programme. This fixed‑term position (3 years) involves developing and delivering core strategic communication courses for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and teach three courses: Advertising and Cultural Consumption (undergraduate), an advanced strategic communication course (undergraduate), and the Strategic Communication Portfolio capstone (postgraduate).
• Design and launch the postgraduate course for on‑campus and UC Online delivery.
• Provide pastoral care and advocacy for students enrolled in strategic communication programmes.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Media and Communication department and UC Online to ensure cohesive curriculum development.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about creating and teaching strategic communication coursework.
• Ability to work both on‑site and remotely, supporting hybrid delivery.
• Willingness to build or leverage professional networks in the strategic communication field.
• Commitment to bi‑cultural competence and community‑engaged teaching.
