About the role

UCOL is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its School of Nursing as a Lecturer in Nurse Education. Based in Whanganui, you will support students (ākonga) through classroom teaching, simulation labs, online learning, and clinical placement supervision, ensuring they meet the Nursing Council of New Zealand Standards of Competence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures and practical sessions for the Bachelor of Nursing programme.
• Facilitate simulation lab activities and guide students in the online learning environment.
• Supervise and assess students during clinical placements across the region.
• Contribute to curriculum development, professional development, and research initiatives.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to maintain a supportive, culturally responsive learning environment.

Required profile

• At least three years of registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
• Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Passion for sharing clinical knowledge and supporting student learning.
• Comfortable working with students in clinical settings and willing to travel for placement support.
• Team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Motivated, dynamic, and engaging professional seeking the next step in a nursing career.
• Working towards or holding a higher nursing qualification is desirable.
