Lecturer in Sport Management

About the role

The Faculty of Health at the University of Canterbury invites applications for a permanent Lecturer position in Sport Management. You will join a vibrant academic community delivering undergraduate and postgraduate sport programmes, contributing to both teaching excellence and research growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, research‑informed teaching for sport management, sport integrity, ethics and youth development modules.
• Develop and coordinate course content, assessments and learning activities.
• Contribute to curriculum development and programme coordination.
• Support students in acquiring industry‑relevant knowledge, skills and capabilities.
• Advance the Faculty’s research agenda through publications, collaborative projects and supervision of postgraduate research.

Required profile

• PhD in Sport Management, Sport Integrity or a closely related field.
• Applied experience in the New Zealand sport sector.
• Strong knowledge of sport integrity, management, leadership or youth sport.
• Demonstrated experience in high‑quality tertiary teaching.
• Evidence of an emerging research or scholarship record.
• Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive teaching practices.

Required skills

• Mixed‑methods research and/or applied action research experience.
