Lecturer in Exercise & Sport Science (Māori Partnership)

About the role

The School of Exercise, Sport & Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Auckland seeks a full‑time, permanent Lecturer in Exercise & Sport Science. This tenure‑track equivalent position balances teaching, research and service, with a strong emphasis on exercise physiology and Māori partnership.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and higher‑level courses, especially in exercise physiology.
• Develop and embed Māori perspectives into curriculum and pedagogy.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Establish an original research programme, publish high‑quality papers and secure external funding.
• Collaborate with community partners and contribute to high‑performance sport science services.

Required profile

• PhD in Exercise or Sport Science.
• Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate qualification.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in New Zealand.
• Proven record of academic excellence and Māori partnership.

Required skills

• Expertise in exercise physiology.
• Knowledge of biomechanics, movement neuroscience, sport psychology and physiotherapy.
• Curriculum development and inclusive pedagogy.
• Research design, grant writing and scholarly publication.
