Lecturer in Astrophysics and Space Technology

About the role

The Department of Physics at the University of Auckland seeks a full‑time Lecturer to lead research and teaching in astrophysics and/or space technology. This permanent position will contribute to the university’s national and international collaborations while fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high‑quality teaching programmes in astrophysics and space technology.
• Lead and expand research projects in areas such as observational astronomy, time‑domain astrophysics, gravitational microlensing, exoplanet detection and satellite technology.
• Strengthen national and international research collaborations.
• Participate in departmental service, mentoring, and equity initiatives.

Required profile

• Outstanding scientific record in astrophysics, space technology, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to secure research funding and publish internationally.
• Experience in teaching at the university level and supervising students.
• Commitment to building a supportive and equitable academic environment.
