Lecturer in Analytical Chemistry

About the role

The School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Auckland is seeking a permanent academic faculty member at Lecturer level in Analytical Chemistry. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position within the broad area of analytical chemistry, with preference for candidates who can also contribute to teaching and research in applied disciplines such as forensic and environmental chemistry. The appointee will contribute to offshore teaching commitments, including travel to other countries.

Required profile

• Conferred PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Forensic Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
• Potential to become a world-class researcher with purposeful, impactful research of relevance to the real world.
• Potential to run an independent research programme funded by external grants, with strong collaborations with other institutions and industry.
• Potential to be a teacher and supervisor reflecting advances in the field, including using AI as a teaching and research tool.
• Active in mentoring, public outreach, engagement with industry and science communication.
• Collaborative and collegial, supporting the analytical chemistry and forensic science programmes.
• Commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity and access in a university context.

What we offer

• Remuneration of NZ$99,788 to NZ$119,204 per year depending on skills and experience.
