Lecturer – Core Courses (Kaiwhakaako) – AUT

About the role

Auckland University of Technology is seeking a permanent, full‑time Lecturer (Kaiwhakaako) to design, deliver and evaluate core curriculum for first‑year health students. The role is based on AUT's North Campus and contributes to a Te Tiriti‑honouring, student‑centred learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and teach core courses that embed mātauranga Māori, Tiriti principles and health equity.
• Assess student performance, ensure timely feedback and uphold faculty quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement of teaching practice and student experience.
• Contribute to scholarship and research aligned with Tiriti‑led education and health practice.
• Collaborate with the Head of Core Courses and use digital resources to enhance learning.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualifications and experience in health education or related fields.
• Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive teaching and equity for Māori, Pasifika and other under‑represented groups.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, interdisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Experience designing curriculum and assessments for first‑year university programmes.
• Proficiency with digital learning platforms and online teaching tools.
