Leading Hand – Service Workshop (Auckland)

About the role
Komatsu New Zealand is seeking an experienced tradesperson to join the Auckland branch as a Leading Hand Service. Working closely with the Service Supervisor, you will coordinate daily workshop activities, mentor technicians and apprentices, and ensure that all work meets the company’s high safety and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate day‑to‑day workshop operations to achieve safe, efficient, and productive outcomes.
- Mentor and coach technicians and apprentices on‑the‑job.
- Plan jobs, monitor progress, and assist with estimates and quotations.
- Maintain quality assurance, safety standards, and operating procedures.
- Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost management.
Required profile
- Trade qualification in heavy equipment, light automotive, mechanical or industrial fields.
- Previous people‑leadership experience (e.g., Leading Hand, Foreman, Workshop Controller).
- Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capability.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and prioritise workshop activities.
- Excellent communication and customer‑relationship skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Computer literacy and basic administrative ability.
