Lead Network Designer – Hydraulic Modelling

About the role

We are expanding our Water team in Auckland and are looking for an experienced Lead Network Designer to head hydraulic modelling and network design for complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects across New Zealand. You will work closely with utility clients, providing technical leadership from feasibility through detailed design.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hydraulic modelling and network design for transmission pipelines, pump stations and large‑scale water and wastewater networks.
• Provide technical direction across feasibility, concept and detailed design stages.
• Deliver modelling solutions using industry‑standard tools and ensure they meet client requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design outcomes.
• Mentor junior engineers and modelers, fostering skill development within the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
• Proven experience delivering water or wastewater utility projects through planning and design phases.
• Strong understanding of water networks, pipelines, pump stations and system operations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusted client relationships.
