Lead Industrial Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Industrial Mechanical Engineer to drive the delivery of medium to large‑scale projects for our key and platinum customers across New Zealand’s industrial and manufacturing sectors. The role combines hands‑on mechanical and piping design with project leadership, costing, construction management and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi‑disciplinary projects from concept through to commissioning, ensuring client expectations and business objectives are met.
• Provide detailed mechanical and pressure‑piping design, develop technical specifications and manage drawing packages.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, manage project budgets and schedules, and oversee construction activities on site.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and high‑quality deliverables.
• Maintain and develop client relationships to support business development and successful project delivery.
• Travel to client and project sites across New Zealand as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Washington Accord accredited).
• Approximately ten years of relevant industry experience in industrial mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience managing multi‑disciplinary projects and delivering design solutions.
• Strong knowledge of hygienic and pressure piping systems, surge, pipe‑stress and hydraulic analysis.
• Familiarity with PECPR requirements and relevant standards such as AS/NZS 1170 and the ASME B31 code series.
