Lead Advisor / Senior Advisor – Sourcing and Commercial Management

About the role

The Ministry is seeking a Lead Advisor / Senior Advisor to join the Sourcing and Commercial Management team. This senior position oversees end‑to‑end sourcing, from market engagement and procurement planning to contract award, implementation and ongoing commercial support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and shape commercial and supplier‑management strategies for major Ministry contracts.
• Drive strategic commercial change that supports the Ministry’s objectives and the wider justice system.
• Analyse market trends, understand supplier capabilities and identify business opportunities.
• Conduct complex negotiations with senior stakeholders to maximise value for money.
• Mentor and develop team members and stakeholder capabilities.
• Ensure contracts align with Government Procurement Rules, risk‑management and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Self‑starter with strong focus and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Background in procurement, commercial or legal functions, or relevant qualification.
• Proven experience in contract management and negotiation.
• Customer‑focused, collaborative and supportive team player.
• Understanding of Government Procurement Rules and commitment to te Tiriti o Waitangi.
