Laboratory Technician – Residues (GC) – Fixed‑Term (6 months)

About the role

AsureQuality is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join its Residues (GC) Testing Team for a six‑month fixed‑term contract. Based in the Auckland laboratory at Lynfield, you will work alongside experienced technicians in New Zealand’s largest food testing facility, ensuring food safety and quality for the supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Perform sample testing within agreed turnaround times (TAT) using validated methods.
• Strictly follow laboratory and regulatory quality‑assurance procedures.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records for all analyses.
• Keep the work area clean, organised and compliant with safety standards.
• Provide flexibility to work additional days, overtime and one weekend day as required.

Required profile

• Graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Food Science or a related analytical discipline.
• Knowledge of Gas Chromatography (GC) is preferred.
• Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and effective time‑management skills.
• Team‑oriented mindset capable of handling repetitive tasks and shifting priorities.
