About the role
Join the Broadview Lifecare team in Whanganui as a Kitchen Assistant, supporting the preparation of nutritious meals for residents in an 85‑bed care home and hospital. You will work in a collaborative environment where good food is seen as essential to wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking meals for residents, following dietary requirements and food safety standards.
- Help with portioning, plating, and serving meals during AM, PM and weekend shifts.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces and storing supplies.
- Support inventory management by receiving deliveries and checking stock levels.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and care teams to ensure timely service.
Required profile
- Proven experience in catering or food service, preferably in a commercial kitchen (training will be provided if needed).
- Positive, can‑do attitude with a genuine love for helping people.
- Reliable and able to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Good communication and time‑management skills.
Required skills
