About the role
Broadview Lifecare is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to join its culinary team in Whanganui. You will help prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents, ensuring dietary requirements are met in a caring aged‑care environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of hot and cold meals following menus and dietary guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food service areas.
- Support the kitchen team during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend shifts.
- Ensure individual food requirements and special diets are accurately addressed.
- Help with stock rotation, inventory checks, and basic food storage tasks.
Required profile
- Previous experience in catering or food service, preferably in a commercial kitchen.
- Positive, can‑do attitude with a genuine interest in supporting residents' wellbeing.
- Reliable and flexible to work AM, PM and weekend shifts on a casual basis.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Required skills
- Basic food preparation techniques.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to follow recipes and portion guidelines.
