Kaiako - Kōhanga Reo Teacher (Early Childhood Education)

About the role

The University of Auckland's Waipapa Taumata Rau campus offers a teacher-led Kōhanga Reo, the only one on City Campus, where te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and whanaungatanga are central to everyday learning. The service is licensed for 25 tamariki aged 7 months to 6 years, with excellent teacher-to-child ratios. It is open to candidates seeking either full-time or part-time positions.

Required profile

• A recognised New Zealand ECE or primary teaching qualification and current teacher registration.
• Experience as a qualified Kaiako, applying relevant ECE theory and Te Whāriki in practice.
• Passion for te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and kaupapa Māori education, with a commitment to nurturing mokopuna and empowering whānau.
• Competency in te reo Māori and tikanga is preferred, though support and professional development are available.
