Junior SOC Analyst – Security Operations Centre

About the role
We are seeking a motivated Junior SOC Analyst to join our Security Operations Centre in Auckland. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience monitoring, investigating and responding to cyber threats while receiving mentorship from senior security professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor security platforms such as SIEM, EDR and IDS for potential threats.
- Perform initial triage and investigation of alerts using established playbooks.
- Escalate incidents to senior analysts and support ongoing investigations.
- Document incidents, investigations and remediation activities in case‑management systems.
- Assist with host‑based and network‑based analysis during incident response.
- Help identify emerging threats, vulnerabilities and attack techniques.
- Participate in operational reviews, team meetings and technical training.
- Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives and refine SOC processes.
Required profile
- Demonstrable passion for cybersecurity and a desire to build a career in security operations.
- Foundational knowledge of IT infrastructure, operating systems and networking concepts.
- Understanding of core networking principles such as TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and documentation skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow established procedures.
Required skills
- Experience with SIEM platforms.
- Familiarity with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools.
- Knowledge of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).
- Use of case‑management systems for incident documentation.
- Network and host‑based analysis techniques.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP protocols.
What we offer
- Competitive salary range of NZD 70,000–90,000 per year.
- Hybrid working model – two days onsite, the remainder remote.
- Roster of 4 days on / 4 days off with 10‑hour shifts.
- Ongoing mentorship and training in industry‑leading security technologies.
