Junior Finance Analyst – Commercial Finance

About the role

Join MediaWorks' Commercial Finance team as a Junior Finance Analyst and support revenue reporting, budgeting and forecasting across multiple media channels. You will work closely with sales leaders to turn data into actionable insights and help shape the future of one of New Zealand's leading media businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare weekly and monthly commercial performance reports.
• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles for radio, digital and third‑party platforms.
• Monitor financial performance against budgets and identify risks and opportunities.
• Assist with financial modelling, business cases and variance analysis.
• Execute month‑end processes, including journals and reconciliations.
• Review payroll and operational costs.
• Analyse revenue, margins and commercial performance.
• Partner with Sales leaders across New Zealand to provide financial insights.
• Produce recommendations for stakeholders based on variance analysis.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Finance or Accounting.
• 1–3 years of experience in a finance or analyst role.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships across the business.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Proactive mindset with genuine curiosity to improve processes.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with NetSuite or another ERP system.
• Familiarity with Tableau or similar reporting tools.
• Revenue accounting knowledge.
• Financial modelling capability.
