IT Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our Information Services team. In this role you will work across a modern Microsoft cloud environment, designing, delivering and continuously improving the council’s cloud and hybrid infrastructure while ensuring security, reliability and fit‑for‑purpose technology platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and support cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions, including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
• Provide Level 3 technical support and act as an escalation point for complex issues.
• Maintain identity, endpoint management and cloud security technologies.
• Contribute technical expertise to infrastructure projects and solution design.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable services.
• Identify opportunities to modernise, automate and improve IT infrastructure.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and supporting Microsoft Cloud services (Azure, M365).
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, identity, endpoint management and enterprise security.
• Experience delivering advanced technical support in a complex ICT environment.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and clear communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with a commitment to continuous learning.
