Ion Propulsion Production & Test Technician

About the role

Rocket Lab is seeking an Ion Propulsion Production & Test Technician to support the operation and maintenance of vacuum chambers used for full‑system ion propulsion acceptance testing. The role involves hands‑on work with thruster and power processing unit (PPU) assemblies, ensuring test procedures are executed accurately and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, calibrate, and monitor vacuum chambers for production and testing of ion propulsion systems.
• Execute test procedures, record results, and report any anomalies to engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot test failures, collaborate with design, production, and quality engineers to identify root causes.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, repairs, and consumables inventory management for vacuum equipment.
• Assemble and test thruster and PPU sub‑systems according to established specifications.

Required profile

• Experience working with high‑vacuum test equipment or similar laboratory instrumentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise test procedures.
• Proactive problem‑solving mindset and effective communication with cross‑functional teams.
• Commitment to safety standards and documentation accuracy.
