Intermediate DevOps Engineer

About the role

We are expanding our DevOps capability at Vector and are looking for an Intermediate DevOps Engineer to support the evolution of Diverge, our cloud‑native energy data platform. Based in Auckland, you will work with cross‑functional squads to improve how software is built, tested, integrated and deployed, ensuring the platform remains reliable, scalable and secure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to streamline build, test and deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot pipeline and build issues, providing support to development squads to unblock delivery.
• Integrate and automate testing (TDD/BDD) across the platform to increase release quality and confidence.
• Collaborate with teams to break down work, estimate effort and support iterative delivery in an Agile environment.
• Support monitoring, performance and security requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation and DevOps best practices.
• Share knowledge and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tooling.
• Proficiency with AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, S3 and IAM.
• Understanding of serverless architecture and infrastructure‑as‑code, preferably using Terraform.
• Comfort working in Scrum/Kanban environments and contributing to task breakdown and estimation.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (TDD/BDD) within build pipelines.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Ability to mentor peers and communicate technical concepts clearly.
