Intermediate Accountant

About the role

Deloitte is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join its Business Advisory team, supporting small to medium‑sized enterprises across Tauranga and Hamilton. You will work on a variety of tax, advisory and financial reporting projects, helping clients grow and make informed strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice on business advisory, tax, transaction, and strategy matters.
• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns and GST returns.
• Assist clients with ongoing tax compliance throughout the year.
• Develop management accounts, forecasts, budgets and other performance metrics on a monthly basis.
• Collect and analyse data to generate actionable insights for clients.
• Draft and deliver client reports under senior guidance.
• Build and maintain relationships with key client contacts and stakeholders.
• Represent Deloitte in the market to create new business opportunities.

Required profile

• 1‑4 years of accounting and/or tax experience, preferably in a CA firm.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• CAANZ/CPA provisional or full membership is desirable but not mandatory.
• Experience with Xero is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
