About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic leader to head the Information Team at Hauraki District Council. The role goes beyond traditional information management – it involves shaping how the council safeguards, organizes and uses its most valuable asset: information.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing Information Team.
• Create a positive, collaborative culture that encourages continuous improvement and innovation.
• Oversee information governance, records management and compliance with legislative requirements.
• Build strong relationships across the council to deliver excellent internal service.

Required profile

• Approachable, engaging leader who builds trust quickly and communicates openly.
• Proven experience in leading, motivating and developing teams.
• Collaborative leadership style with strong relationship‑building skills.
• Energy, initiative and a passion for continuous improvement.
• Confidence to lead change and identify process improvements.
• Sound knowledge of information or records management, or ability to develop expertise rapidly.
• Commitment to excellent customer service and positive outcomes.
• Full New Zealand driver licence; relevant qualifications are desirable but not mandatory.
