Independent Non-Executive Director

About the role

Counties Energy is seeking an Independent Non-Executive Director to join its Board. The role will provide governance oversight for the organisation’s long‑term asset management, network resilience and emerging energy opportunities as the business expands across South Auckland and Franklin.

Key responsibilities

• Provide governance oversight of the Asset Management Plan and major infrastructure investment programmes.
• Contribute to strategic discussions on network reliability, resilience and future energy systems.
• Support the Board and Chief Executive in navigating sector change, technological development and growth‑related infrastructure needs.
• Monitor organisational performance, risk management and long‑term sustainability.
• Bring independent judgement and constructive challenge to Board deliberations.

Required profile

• Senior leadership, governance or executive experience within the electricity or broader energy sector.
• Technical credibility combined with strong governance judgement.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a Board environment, challenge appropriately and support collective decision‑making.
