In-training Kaiako – Early Childhood Educator

About the role

We are looking for a passionate in‑training Kaiako to join our vibrant early childhood team at Te Ako o te Tui. The role is based primarily in the over‑2s classroom but may involve supporting children from 3 months to 6 years as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, intentional teaching experiences for tamariki across the age range.
• Assist with planning, assessment and compliance in line with Te Whāriki.
• Work collaboratively with the teaching team to maintain excellent teacher‑child ratios and a safe, stimulating environment.
• Support the diverse needs of families and whānau, fostering inclusive relationships.
• Participate in professional development and contribute positively to team culture.

Required profile

• Enrolled with a New Zealand early childhood education training provider.
• Enthusiastic, reflective and committed to ongoing learning.
• Strong belief in diversity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging.
• Emerging understanding of pedagogical practice, including Te Whāriki.
• Willingness to work flexible rostered shifts to accommodate study commitments.
