Horticulture Tutor – Nursery Production (Level 3)

About the role

New Zealand Management Academies is seeking a passionate Horticulture Tutor to deliver the Level 3 Certificate in Horticulture (Nursery Production). In this hands‑on role you will guide learners through practical and theoretical aspects of horticulture, preparing them for industry employment or further study.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging theory and practical training in plant propagation, pruning, plant care, growing systems and pest, weed and disease management.
• Facilitate practical sessions in greenhouse, nursery and outdoor environments.
• Develop training plans, maintain student records and assess learner progress.
• Embed literacy and numeracy into programme delivery.
• Mentor learners from diverse backgrounds toward successful qualification completion.
• Build relationships with industry partners and support work placements.
• Ensure compliance with NZQA and internal quality standards.

Required profile

• Practical experience in horticulture, preferably in nursery production, propagation or commercial growing.
• Minimum Level 4 qualification in Horticulture or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of plant care, propagation, pruning and pest, weed and disease management.
• Passion for supporting learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
