Heavy Vehicle Operator

About the role

Orica is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Operator to join its Mobile Manufacturing Unit (MMU) team at Stockton Mine in the Buller Coalfield, near Westport, New Zealand. The role involves operating a highly advanced heavy rigid vehicle equipped with modern computer systems to deliver explosive products into pre‑drilled blast holes on customer quarry sites.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the MMU and associated blasting plant and machinery.
• Assist with preventative maintenance of the vehicle and equipment.
• Deliver explosive products down pre‑drilled blast holes on benches.
• Work closely with teammates to provide excellent service to customers.
• Uphold Orica’s safety‑first culture at all times.

Required profile

• Current Heavy Rigid (HR) Class 4 driver’s licence (Class 2 acceptable).
• Ability to obtain and hold a Dangerous Goods licence after security checks.
• Basic mechanical understanding is advantageous.
