Healthcare Assistant – Support Residents in Christchurch

About the role

We are seeking compassionate Healthcare Assistants to join Oceania’s villages in Christchurch. In this role you will help older residents live with dignity, independence and comfort, providing person‑centred care in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care while maintaining dignity, privacy and comfort.
• Assist residents with daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition and hydration.
• Observe and respond to physical and emotional needs, escalating concerns when required.
• Build respectful relationships with residents, families/whānau and the wider team.
• Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment that promotes wellbeing.
• Follow individual care plans and collaborate closely with Registered Nurses.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families and colleagues.
• Uphold health, safety and infection‑control practices.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, caregiver or similar role.
• Compassionate, patient and respectful approach to caring for older adults.
• Clear communication skills and a strong team‑focused mindset.
• Commitment to safety, dignity and resident‑centred care.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and night shifts.
