Health & Safety Manager – New Zealand Operations

About the role

DHL Express is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and embed a strong safety culture across its New Zealand operations. You will partner with business leaders to ensure compliance with legislation, drive continuous improvement, and protect employees and assets.

Key responsibilities

• Implement DHL’s Health & Safety strategy aligned with global standards and business goals.
• Develop and manage operational H&S plans, initiatives, and budgets.
• Lead safety improvement projects and ensure compliance with New Zealand legislation and internal standards.
• Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation measures.
• Oversee incident investigations, audits, corrective actions, and emergency response procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections across operational and administrative facilities.
• Deliver safety training, coaching, and awareness programmes.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in health & safety roles, preferably within logistics, transport or operations.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
• Proven experience in audits, investigations and safety management systems.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership and team development experience.
