Health & Safety Advisor

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to support our nationwide waste‑management operations. Based in Christchurch, you will work closely with operational leaders and the Group Health & Safety Manager to embed a strong safety culture across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical, on‑the‑ground support to managers and teams.
• Conduct audits, inspections and investigations across multiple sites.
• Deliver training and promote safety engagement.
• Maintain risk registers and ensure compliance with New Zealand health and safety legislation.
• Support reporting, documentation and system improvements.
• Lead site visits and investigations to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Required profile

• 3–5 years’ experience in a health and safety advisory role, preferably in high‑risk or multi‑site environments.
• Strong working knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused attitude.
• Ability to work independently and influence safe behaviours.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand and willingness to undergo pre‑employment drug test and Ministry of Justice check.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NZ health and safety legislation.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections and investigations.
• Ability to maintain risk registers.
• Competence in delivering health and safety training.
